PROJECT NAME: O'Fallon Madison Illini Bike Trail Connector Project
OWNER: City of O"Fallon
LOCATION: Madison Street, O'Fallon, Illinois
CONSTRUCTION COST: $550,000
YEAR COMPLETED: 2014
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of O’Fallon employed our firm to prepare preliminary and final plans, specifications, and estimates for a new bike/pedestrian trail to connect existing residential areas to the Illini Drive Bike/Pedestrian Trail.  Our firm prepared all of the necessary exhibits and the application for the Illinois Transportation Enhancements Program (ITEP) funding for the project.  The project involved the design of a 10’ wide bike/pedestrian bridge on the Illini Drive Bike Trail spanning the Madison Street corridor, a 12’ wide bike trail along the Madison Street corridor between Mulberry Lane and the Alley west of Cedar Street, and the connection of the Madison Street Trail and the Illini Drive Bike Trail by means of a 10’ wide ramp in the vicinity of the proposed bridge.  All bike/pedestrian pavement consisted of an aggregate base and a hot-mix asphalt surface.  Our firm was also retained to provide construction staking, material testing and assistance with inspection and documentation.  Coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation was required throughout the project design and construction.
