Robinson School Road Improvement Project

PROJECT NAME: Robinson School Road Improvements
OWNER: Prairie Du Long Road District / St. Clair County
LOCATION: Prairie Du Long Township, St. Clair County, Illinois
CONSTRUCTION COST: $100,000
YEAR COMPLETED: 2008
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The St. Clair County Department of Roads and Bridges employed our firm to prepare the Project Development Report, preliminary and final plans, specifications, and estimates for reconstruction of the intersection of Robinson School Road and Blacksmith Shop Road.  The project included the horizontal and vertical realignment of the roadway to eliminate two adverse-angle intersections at either end of a horizontal curve on Robinson School Road and replace them with a single right-angle intersection near the mid-point of the curve.  These improvements were necessary to improve the intersection sight distance and reduce the traffic safety hazards.  The project was funded with a grant through the Federal Highway Administrationís High Risk Rural Roads Program as administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).   The rural roadway project was subject to review and approval by the St. Clair County Department of Roads and Bridges and IDOT.
