Baldwin Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Lining Project

PROJECT NAME:
Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation (Lining)
OWNER: Village of Baldwin
LOCATION: Baldwin, Randolph County, Illinois
FUNDING AGENCY: U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development
CONSTRUCTION COST: $240,830
YEAR COMPLETED: 2010
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Village of Baldwin was experiencing a high volume of infiltration during rainfall events and this project was undertaken to address the problem.  The first phase of the project included smoke testing and televising the sewer system to locate the problem areas and to determine what rehabilitation steps were needed.  The project included approximately 11,000 feet of 8” CIPP (Cured in Place Pipe) Lining. The CIPP lining was a portion of a large project that included1,300 feet of gravity sewer replacement and a 570 foot on-grade directional bore approximately 20 feet deep which had to be completed due to the proximity of the Canadian National Railroad and IL Route 154. A new primary lift station and 35 KW portable generator were provided and sludge was removed from Baldwin’s two-cell lagoon.
